Put The Spark Back In Your System With An Electrical Inspection

16/02/2017

The temperatures are rising … well, they were … the days are getting longer and the first snowdrops have appeared meaning spring is on its way. If your electrical system has been in ‘hibernation’ over the winter months, now is a good time to review your electrical relationship by checking it is safe and operational with a comprehensive inspection.
Now is the time to carry out an Electrical Inspection to determine if your system is in good condition and meets the Health & Safety Executive (HSE) Electricity at Work Regulations 1989.

Electrical   Harmony with an Electrical Inspection

St. Valentine’s Day may have come and gone but are you on friendly terms with your electrical installation? Is it a match made in heaven or hell?

If there is discord between the two of you, the consequences could be serious even fatal for you and your employees. Defective wiring, overloaded sockets, lack of earthing and out of date components are an accident waiting to happen, and it is your responsibility as an employer/business owner to prevent this.
A safe and efficient system is a happy one so keep everything sweet between the two of you with a regular inspection of your electrics. A failure to do so could result in expensive legal proceedings and a painful D.I.V.O.R.C.E.
Testing Times
How often should you test your electrical system and what stipulations are there as to how frequently you should have an electrical inspection?

The HSE recommends commercial installations be tested every 5 years and industrial installations every 3 years (ref: HSE).
If you own a place that provides public entertainment, e.g. cinema or restaurant, this inspection must be undertaken each year. The same applies to owners of petrol stations.
There are two types of testing: PAT testing and Fixed Wiring Testing, also known as an Electrical Installation Condition Report. We can conduct these in all types of commercial premises including:

  • Office electrical inspections
  • Factories
  • Retail units
  • Workshops
  • Construction sites

A qualified, fully trained electrical engineer must conduct all inspections with experience in working with commercial electrical systems.
Do not under any circumstances attempt this yourself.
We can ensure your business complies with Insurance and Health & Safety Executive regulations. Book an Electrical Inspection with one of our professional engineers and at a time and date to suit you.
