Design and Installation of Full LV Infrastructure Upgrade and Multi-Voltage Work Bays

One Way was appointed to design and deliver the phased upgrade of the LV power distribution infrastructure across a Greater Manchester Combined Authority site. The existing installation included outdated switchgear from the 1940s and 50s—some of which contained asbestos—and lacked accurate documentation. The goal was to create a safe, modern, and compliant electrical system to support current and future operational demands.

The project included a full site survey, load monitoring, design of a new distribution network, and the installation of nine bespoke multi-voltage work bay stations. All works were delivered in a live operational environment with minimal disruption, while also complying with strict CDM and asbestos-handling protocols.

Scope of Works Included:

  • Full survey of undocumented existing electrical infrastructure
  • Load monitoring and capacity analysis
  • Design and installation of new ladder containment system
  • Replacement of obsolete distribution equipment, including asbestos removal
  • Power and control cabling installation
  • Installation of split-load 400V and 110V distribution boards
  • Bespoke multi-voltage workstation units at 9 bay locations
  • Workstation task lighting and spring-return cable reels
  • LED lighting and emergency lighting upgrades
  • Full SLD and plan view drawings for record and compliance
